Info

David Robert Elliott is a photographic and video artist based in San Francisco, CA.

David renders his subjects, freed of peripheral noise, with authenticity and warmth. A light touch allows for an inversion to take place: the composed element of his photography produces casual spontaneity, while the documentary element articulates complexity and dignity, often in unpredictable, and consequently thought-provoking, ways.

David moves fluidly between the commercial and fine-art worlds, working with clients as well as maintaining his own practice. In 2017, Candor Arts published “I used to believe that I could be the next Larry Bird,” a series of photographs of teenage runners posing questions such as "How do our failures define us? How much of our perceived worth is determined by our performance?” and “How many times are we willing to lose before we give up?” His work is in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Yale, Tufts, University of Illinois and Harvard, among others.
